Missing Snowboarder Fatality, Out of Bounds on Mount Strachan

Cypress Mountain, West Vancouver – On the afternoon of January 29, 2016, a 40 year old male from the Lower Mainland was reported missing by a snowboarding companion to Cypress Base Station at approximately 3:30 PM.  The report identified the location where the two persons had crossed a double rope line boundary marking on Upper Mount Strachan earlier in the day, and where the companion had turned back to return to the Ski Area.

A boundary search was subsequently conducted by Cypress Ski Patrol, and the location of a snowboard track exiting down a steep slope beyond the boundary was confirmed.  The West Vancouver Police Department was contacted and a search was initiated last night by North Shore Search and Rescue in the area of Montizambert Creek above the Sea to Sky Highway.

Hollyburn Lodge 2015 Renewal Project Update - Nov 18, 2015

The completion date for occupancy is unconfirmed at this time and will be subject to receiving permits to operate from the authorities.  We will provide notice well in advance of opening but as of November 15th we have a lot of work to complete before this can happen.

In the meantime we will be taking measures to provide interim food and beverage opportunities to our Nordic skiers and snowshoers. We thank you for your patience as we work to complete the rebuild of this important landmark building and we will provide regular updates on this website on our progress.

Below is a detailed update of our progress so far:
