Beginner Skate Lessons
Level up your winter adventures
Are you experienced in classic skiing and want to expand your cross-country toolbox? Time to try skate skiing! Skate skiing involves laterally pushing each ski to the side to generate propulsion. The motion is comparable to ice skating. If you have a good fitness level and are ready to try something new, then we recommend taking a skate skiing lesson.
What you'll learn
- Introduction to equipment and movement on skis
- How to maintain balance, generate propulsion and change direction
- Techniques for getting up after a fall
- Introduction to free skate, one skate, herringbone and diagonal skate for hills
- Downhill progression, including braking wedge and wedge turns

- Cancellation policy: All lessons, once purchased, are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Lessons are forfeited for absent participants. If Cypress Mountain cancels your lesson, you will be rescheduled to another lesson within the same or future seasons.

- Online registration is available (unless sold out) until 24 hours before the lesson starts. Please e-mail us if you are trying to book a space after the online cut-off.
- All lesson programs and tours run regardless of weather conditions when the mountain is open.
