First Time Discover
Students will learn how to:
- Be safety aware on the snow (Alpine Responsibility Code)
- Use equipment
- Move on flats and up hills with one foot strapped in
- Glide and control decent on a gentle slope with one foot strapped in
- Control decent (side-slipping) on heel side with both feet strapped in
- Stand up from a seated position on the snow
- Have fun!
Mastering Side Slipping
Students already know how to:
- Side-slip down a slope on heel side with both feet strapped in
- Stand up from a seated position on the snow
Students will learn how to:
- Control speed while side-slipping on heel side
- Control decent and speed while side slipping on toe side
- Change direction while side-slipping on heel and toe side (pendulum)
- Use the Easy Rider chair
Learn to Turn
Students already know how to:
- Pendulum on both heel and toe sides down Runway (Easy Rider)
- Stand up independently from a seated position on the snow
- Use the Easy Rider chair
Students will learn how to:
- Be safe on the slopes
- Improve balance on heel and toe edge to manage speed
- Change edges (heel-to-toe / toe-to-heel) to turn
Link Down Greens
Students already know how to:
- Change edges to turn on both sides (heel-to-toe and toe-to-heel)
- Manage speed on steeper terrain with edge control
Students will learn how to:
- Link heel-side and toe-side turns together
- Use Express Quad Chairs (Lions or Eagle)
- Maintain speed on flatter terrain
Cruise The Blues
Students already know how to:
- Link heel-side and toe-side turns on Green runs (Collins/Panorama)
- Maintain a constant speed on varying pitch (flatter/steeper)
- Use Express Quad Chairs (Lions/Eagle)
Students will learn how to:
- Manage speed on steeper (Blue) terrain
- Improve performance on Green and Blue terrain
- Manage pressure on the snowboard
- Perform introductory freestyle maneuvers
