Dear Skiers/Riders,

The La Nina Winter Season is fast approaching and we are extremely pleased to see some snowfall in the seven-day forecast. With a bit of good fortune, we are very hopeful to be firing up our “best in class” snowmaking system over the weekend. The Team at Cypress Mountain are putting the final touches on an extensive list of improvements and modifications that have been taking place during the offseason to enhance your experience this winter.

Our top priority at Cypress Mountain, as always, is the welfare and safety of our Passholders, Guests and Team Members, and this 2020/21 winter season will require many new protocols to ensure that everyone visiting the resort is offered the very best opportunity to have a safe and enjoyable experience.

This communication will outline many of the new protocols that we will start the season with and maintain until operational efficiencies are refined over time or as further direction is issued from Government and/or Health Authorities. Please keep in mind that operating the Resort this winter will be different and we have added protocols, which may be inconvenient for our guests at times. We request that all visitors to Cypress Mountain provide our Team Members patience, flexibility and understanding in working with us to overcome any issues that are experienced. After all, we are all in this together!

For the safety and welfare of all our guests and Team Members we must insist that you avoid visiting Cypress Mountain any time you do not feel well, if anyone in your household or bubble has become ill, or if you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positively for Covid-19 within the prior 14 days. Let’s all do our part to stop the spread!

At the heart of our planning for this winter season, we focused our efforts on five over–riding principles (Physical distancing, Wash your hands, Wear a face covering, Cashless systems, Online bookings) to help guide us and mitigate the risk of COVID-19.

One of the most difficult undertakings this season will be restricting the availability of lift ticket sales during peak periods to manage capacity in order to support physical distancing – daily communication on our website and Cypress Mountain app will feature day-to-day capacity restrictions and/or availability of tickets to pre-purchase with on-line bookings only (no in person ticket office sales). In addition, we will be proactively managing the numbers of guests entering our indoor facilities across the resort and have altered the routes of access and flow to support and promote physical distancing.

Face coverings will be required everywhere at the Resort at all times with the exceptions of while travelling on ski trails (although we highly recommend you keep your face cover on), or directly in the action of consuming food or drink at an acceptable physical distancing of 2 metres or with an alternate approved physical barrier in place. We have added 5 new conveniently located hand wash stations throughout the Cypress Creek Lodge for ease of access to our guests and employees.

All Cypress Team Members will be screened prior to every shift to ensure that we maintain a safe and healthy work environment. All Team Members will be trained on the proper use of PPE and proactively maintain physical distancing wherever possible, washing hands regularly and wearing an approved face covering as a standard operating procedure. Additional training sessions will be maintained throughout the season to provide support for our Team in understanding the important role they will play in mitigating any opportunity for exposure at our Resort.

Regular and rigorous cleaning procedures will be conducted throughout the day and high touch point areas will be deep cleaned every night after closing in preparation for the following day. As an added preventative measure, we have applied an antimicrobial surface protection coating (Zero Blast) across our resort which remains effective for months on high touch surfaces and other surfaces to which it is applied.

We will be introducing “contactless/cashless payments” as much as possible and in consideration of this initiative we will apply the following guidelines:

• All lift/trail tickets must be pre-purchased online
• All ski/board rental equipment must be pre-purchased online
• All on-mountain transactions will be credit card or bank card – “tap” technology
• Cypress Mountain Resort will be cashless this season – no cash transactions


Please note that we do not intend to implement a reservation system for Season Passholders at this time and hope that with the measures we have undertaken and with the cooperation of all of our guests, that we can maintain a safe environment to provide everyone with a full season of winter activity. We will be restricting day ticket sales on days, which we have identified through our analytics. We will encourage Season Passholders to ski, ride or snowshoe during off-peak periods as much as possible to assist in managing capacity.

If Health Authorities impose new guidelines during the course of the season, we may need to take steps - even radical steps - to satisfy those requirements. We can assure you however that we fully intend to operate lifts and trails daily throughout the season and will take all measures necessary to maintain that intention.

Your experience at our indoor facilities will be very different from normal and we suggest that you be prepared to use your vehicle as an alternate dining, warming and storage area if possible.

We appreciate that this season things may be a bit different from the last time you visited, but we have worked tirelessly to come up with new ways to create memorable moments and experiences to treasure forever.

Cypress Mountain Resort

  • You will need to maintain a designated Physical Distance from other guests as required by Health Authorities
  • You will be required to wear a Face Covering for virtually all of your visit at the Resort
  • You are strongly encouraged to Wash/Sanitize your Hands as often as possible throughout your visit
  • All Lift Tickets, Equipment Rentals, Ski Lessons, Tubing Tickets, Trail and Snowshoe Tickets must be Purchased On-Line 
  • Cypress Mountain will be Cashless this season - all Resort purchases will be by Credit/Debit Card only
  • Some of our normal offerings and services throughout the Resort will be more limited this season - please be prepared to utilize your vehicle during peak periods as an alternate opportunity for eating, warming, changing and storage. 

Quick Facts on Operational Changes for Winter

Snow School:

  • Reduced ratio of students to instructor to support physical distancing 
  • Reduce ski school camps and school groups
  • Face coverings will be worn at all times by instructors and supervisors
  • All booking and pre-registration for lessons will be competed online
  • All check ins and lessons will take place outside  
  • Private and semi-private lessons will be available for guests in the same bubble.
  • All ski school employees will go through a daily health check

Cypress Creek Grill, Crazy Raven Bar and Grill, Gold Medal Cafe & The Shack:

  • Access will be controlled to the food and beverage locations within the Cypress Creek Lodge by our Hospitality Hosts  
  • Tables will be spaced for reduced capacity and plexiglass barriers installed to support physical distancing 
  • Saving tables for extended periods will not be permitted anywhere in the resort
  • A 30 minute time limit will be applied at all cafeteria tables (inside and outside)
  • A more limited selection of hot menu items will be available and no substitutions or special orders will be offered to reduce the cross movement of Food and Beverage employees
  • The Crazy Raven Bar will be reserved for persons with valid ski tickets or season passes only (60 minute maximium stay)
  • Additional convenient sanitation and hand wash stations are available throughout the Cypress Creek Lodge
  • A covered outdoor dining facility will be located beside “The Shack” opening in Dec 2020 to supplement the loss of interior seating
  • The menu selection at The Shack has been expanded to provide many options similar to the Cypress Creek Grill including burgers, fries, and licensed beverages  
  • Hands free auto flush toilets, sinks and soap have been installed at washroom facilities

Retail:

  • There will be reduced store capacity and controlled access at the store to support physical distancing
  • One-way traffic system throughout store with plexiglass installation and you will be required to sanitize your hands on entry
  • Face coverings are mandatory for employees and guests inside our facilities
  • Introduction of “Sani Box” - quickly and efficiently disinfects for demo googles, gloves and helmets

Rentals:

  • All guests are required to pre-purchase in advance online and for the available timeslot - capacity for rental equipment will be reduced 
  • The Rental Shop has been reconfigured with a one-way system to minimise contact with employees and other guests
  • All rental employees and guests are required to wear a face covering inside our facilities
  • Access into the rental shop will be reserved for guests who have pre-purchased their rental package/timeslot
  • All rental equipment will be sanitized when  returned and deep cleaned overnight
  • We will be opening an overflow rental shop at the Black Mountain Lodge to support peak periods at the Black Mountain Lodge
  • Day lockers will be reduced in capacity and will be unable to guarantee space, so we encourage all renters to use of your vehicle for storage

Lift Operations:

  • Chairlift lines will be spaced out to allow physical distancing of 2m/6ft between groups or individual riders
  • Face coverings will be required in lift lines and when riding the lift
  • Guests can choose to fill the chair with riders in your own bubble or ride as 2 singles on our Quad chairs and 1 person on our twin chairlifts

Nordic Area:

  • All tickets for activities are required to be pre purchased online
  • Rental snowshoes or cross-country skiers must be pre-purchased online
  • Hands free auto flush toilets, sinks and soap have been installed at washroom facilities
  • Reconfigured rental and F&B locations to support physical distancing and experience
  • An outdoor covered dining facility will be erected beside Hollyburn Lodge – Opening in Dec 2020   

Parking:

  • Face coverings to be worn once you have exited your vehicle
  • Be respect and mindful of others and maintain physical distancing
  • Park as directed by Team Members
