Canadian Jasey-Jay Anderson has won the Olympic gold medal at the men's parallel giant slalom at Cypress Mountain.

Anderson, Canada's most decorated snowboarder, beat out long-time rival Benjamin Karl of Austria.

France's Mathieu Bozetto secured the bronze medal.

Dutchwoman Nicolien Sauerbreij won the Olympic Games women's parallel giant slalom gold on Friday.

Russia's Ekaterina Ilyukhina took silver with Marion Kreiner of Austria claiming bronze.

Kyle Nissen of Calgary flirted with a medal Thursday night but
faltered on his second and final jump and settled for fifth place in
men’s aerials at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.

Belarus’s
Alexei Grishin won the gold medal with a score of 248.41, edging Jeret
Peterson of the U.S., who was second at 247.21. China’s Liu Zhongqing
won the bronze with 242.53 points.

Australia continued their modern tradition of surprising in Winter Olympics events with a gold medal in the women's freestyle aerials Wednesday as Lydia Lassila dropped a pair of elite-standard jumps on the world, surprising the highly touted Chinese competitors with a combined 214.74.
