Skooter Ski Levels
Ski | Yellow
Ski Level 1
Goals:
- Build confidence on the Magic Carpet
- Learn to make a pizza and maybe turn
- Develop speed control skills
- Increase mobility on my skis
- Increase strength and stamina
To move on:
- I can control my speed with a pizza
- I am confident on gentle terrain
- I have been introduced to and can ride the Magic Carpet
Ski | Green
Ski Level 2
Goals:
- Build confidence on the Magic Carpet
- Learn to link turns
- Develop speed control skills
- Increase mobility on my skis
- Increase strength and stamina
To move on:
- I can control speed in the Magic Garden
- I can link turns in the Magic Garden
- I can control speed on steeper terrain
- I have been introduced to the Easy Rider chair lift and can ski its terrain
Ski | Red
Ski Level 3
Goals:
- Build confidence on Easy Rider chairlift
- Introduce a parallel traverse
- Further developing linked turns
- Can ski both fast and slow in control
- Improve balance, build strength and stamina
To move on:
- I can use Easy Rider chairlift safely
- I can control my speed while, linking turns on Easy Rider
- I have been introduced to and can ride Eagle or Lions Chair and can ski its green terrain
- I have been introduced to parallel
- I have enough stamina to ski for an entire lesson.
Ski | Blue
Ski Level 4
Goals:
- Explore the mountain
- Build confidence on steeper and more challenging terrain
- Develop parallel skiing
- Improve mobility, including tricks
- Build strength and stamina
What's next?
- Refinement of all ski skills.
- From the age of 7, moving on to 'Raven Rider Camps.
Skooter Snowboard Levels
Snowboard | Yellow
Snowboard Level 1
Goals:
- Learn to use my equipment
- Learn to move around on flat terrain
- Develop confidence sliding on my snowboard
- Gain control of speed, using my edge
To move on:
- I can J- turn or side slip to control my speed
- I am confident sliding on gentle terrain
- I am balanced on my snowboard
Snowboard | Green
Snowboard Level 2
Goals:
- Build confidence on steeper terrain
- Develop speed control skills
- Leaning how to change direction
- Increase mobility on my board
To move on:
- I can use both edges to change speed and direction
- I have been introduced to Easy Rider terrain
- I can stand up on my snowboard without assistance
Snowboard | Red
Snowboard Level 3
Goals:
- Build confidence on Easy Rider chairlift
- I can do isolated turns
- Improve my balance and mobility on green terrain
- Build strength and Stamina
To move on:
- I can use Easy Rider chairlift safely
- I can control my speed on green terrain
- I am confident linking turns on green terrain

Snowboard Level 4
Goals:
- Explore the mountain
- Build confidence on steeper and more challenging terrain
- Developing my novice turns
- Introduction to tricks on my board (improving balance and mobility)
- Build strength and stamina

Level 1
First Time Discover
Students will learn how to:
- Be safety aware on the snow (Alpine Responsibility Code)
- Use equipment
- Stand and balance on skis
- Walk on flats and up hills with skis
- Glide on flats and gentle slopes
- Turn left and right
- Feel comfortable and confident on snow
Level 2
Learn to Turn
Students already know how to:
- Put skis on and take skis off
- Walk on flats and up hills
- Glide down gentle slopes
- Make a single turn to a stop on a gentle slope
Students will learn how to:
- Improve safety awareness
- Link turns together down a slope
- Manage speed through turning
- Use the Easy Rider chair
Level 3
Feel The Greens
Students already know how to:
- Link turns together down a slope
- Use the Easy Rider chair
- Manage speed through turning
- Ski comfortably down Runway (Easy Rider)
Students will learn how to:
- Maintain a centered stance on skis
- Vary turn shape to manage speed and direction
- Manage speed on steeper sections (Green terrain)
- Use Express Quad Chairs (Lions or Eagle Express)
Level 4
Learn to Parallel
Students already know how to:
- Link turns efficiently
- Manage speed on steeper sections
- Ski comfortable on all sections of Green runs (Collins/Panorama)
Students will learn how to:
- Improve skiing technique
- Increase speed on comfortable (Green) terrain
- Maintain a parallel stance at all times.
- Increase confidence to manage new, steeper (Blue) terrain
Level 5
Cruise The Blues
Students already know how to:
- Maintain a parallel stance at all times
- Manage speed on steeper sections of Blue terrain
- Ski comfortable on all Green and Blue terrain
Students will learn how to:
- Improve skiing technique
- Maintain speed and turn shape on steeper sections of Blue terrain
- Manage varied terrain
- Vary turn shape
Snowboard Levels
Level 1
First Time Discover
Students will learn how to:
- Be safety aware on the snow (Alpine Responsibility Code)
- Use equipment
- Move on flats and up hills with one foot strapped in
- Glide and control decent on a gentle slope with one foot strapped in
- Control decent (side-slipping) on heel side with both feet strapped in
- Stand up from a seated position on the snow
Level 2
Mastering Side Slipping
Students already know how to:
- Side-slip down a slope on heel side with both feet strapped in
- Stand up from a seated position on the snow
Students will learn how to:
- Control speed while side-slipping on heel side
- Control decent and speed while side slipping on toe side
- Change direction while side-slipping on heel and toe side (pendulum)
- Use the Easy Rider chair
Level 3
Learn to Turn
Students already know how to:
- Pendulum on both heel and toe sides down Runway (Easy Rider)
- Stand up independently from a seated position on the snow
- Use the Easy Rider chair
Students will learn how to:
- Be safe on the slopes
- Improve balance on heel and toe edge to manage speed
- Change edges (heel-to-toe / toe-to-heel) to turn
Level 4
Link Down Greens
Students already know how to:
- Change edges to turn on both sides (heel-to-toe and toe-to-heel)
- Manage speed on steeper terrain with edge control
Students will learn how to:
- Link heel-side and toe-side turns together
- Use Express Quad Chairs (Lions or Eagle)
- Maintain speed on flatter terrain
Level 5
Cruise The Blues
Students already know how to:
- Link heel-side and toe-side turns on Green runs (Collins/Panorama)
- Maintain a constant speed on varying pitch (flatter/steeper)
- Use Express Quad Chairs (Lions/Eagle)
Students will learn how to:
- Manage speed on steeper (Blue) terrain
- Improve performance on Green and Blue terrain
- Manage pressure on the snowboard
- Perform introductory freestyle maneuvers
Freestyle Ski Levels
Freestyle Beginner
Level 1
Students already know how to:
- Maintain a parallel stance at all times on Blue terrain
- Ski down all Blue terrain with confidence
- Manage speed on steeper (Black) terrain
- Manage direction on moguls or gladed terrain
- Adjust speed and turn shape for snow conditions
- Ski a variety of turn shapes and speeds on flats and up hills with skis
Students will learn how to:
- Make a risk assessment of natural features
- Learn Terrain Park etiquette
- Perform basic freestyle techniques on Green or Blue terrain
- Identify a variety of natural and controlled features
- Improve skiing technique to manage varied terrain and snow conditions

Freestyle Experienced
Level 2
Students already know how to:
- Maintain a parallel stance at all times on Black terrain
- Ski down most Black terrain with confidence
- Manage speed on the steepest Black or Double Black terrain
- Demonstrate creative application of skiing technique in moguls or on gladed terrain
- Adjust skiing technique to appropriately adapt to varying snow conditions
- Make a risk assessment of natural and controlled features
- Confidently “straight air” on some natural and small controlled features
- Slide the length of a small box facing forward
Students will learn how to:
- Continue to apply etiquette and risk assessment practices
- Develop Freestyle technique to spins and/or grab on controlled features
- Improve ski technique to increase speed and/or versatility on a variety of terrain and snow conditions

Freestyle Snowboard Levels
Freestyle Beginner
Level 1
Students will learn how to:
- Link heel-side and toe-side turns down most Blue terrain
- Ride down all Blue terrain with confidence
- Manage speed on steeper Blue or Black terrain
- Manage direction on moguls or gladed terrain
- Adjust speed and turn shape for snow conditions
- Ride a variety of turn shapes and speeds
Students will learn how to:
- Make a risk assessment of natural features
- Learn Terrain Park etiquette
- Perform basic freestyle techniques on Green or Blue terrain
- Identify a variety of natural and controlled features
- Improve riding technique to manage varied terrain and snow conditions
