Serving the Communities of West Vancouver and Bowen Island. Cypress Mountain is proud to be a long-standing member of the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. The West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting, enhancing and facilitating all forms of business in our community.
Hollyburn Heritage Society
The Society's biggest goal is working to preserve and restore Hollyburn Ski Lodge for future generations to enjoy. Old photos, artifacts and stories are on display at the Lodge offering a nostalgic look back to the beginnings of today's busy ski area. Cypress Mountain whole heartedly supports the Society's enthusiasm and efforts. Hollyburn Ridge Association (HRA)
Cypress Mountain hosts events to which cabin folk are invited throughout the winter, such as holiday celebrations, Saturday night live music at Hollyburn Lodge (just like the old days), fun times Springfest and many more. In turn, the HRA puts on a fall festival/loggers sports supported by Cypress at Hollyburn Lodge and First Lake every September. Cypress offers special cabin passes at discounted prices for our cabin neighbours.
Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club
Cypress Mountain supports the club in its many endeavours throughout the winter including the Jack Rabbit Ski League - a fun, progressive, skill development program for children (designed under the auspices of Cross Country BC). This program has nurtured many young skiers that have gone on to compete and excel at very high levels. With the Ski League and their many other programs and events - week days, week nights and weekends, the club's membership has a high profile on the Nordic trails. Cypress offers season pass/group discounts to Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club members as well as all our other supported ski clubs.
First Nations Riders
To improve the quality of life and empower Aboriginal youth across Canada using the winter sport of snowboarding as a fundamental tool for excellence. The First Nation Snowboard Team members are ambassadors for Aboriginal people. We will continue to thrive, to have our First Nation Snowboard Team (FNST) athletes compete in Winter Olympic competitions.
Vancouver Freestyle Ski Club
The Vancouver Freestyle ski club is a member operated club dedicated to promoting freestyle skiing in the greater Vancouver area for young athletes 7 to 18 years of age. They offer ski programs for both the recreational and competitive skier covering broad range of disciplines, including moguls, big air, half pipe and slope style.
Cypress Ski Club
The Cypress Ski Club formed in 1986 as a non-profit organization to provide quality and affordable ski programs where each child can develop to their full potential in a fun, friendly, safe environment. The club is active both on and off the snow and has a great family spirit which helps to develop friendships and a life long love of the outdoors.
Special Olympics (Downhill Area)
Special Olympics BC (SOBC) is a volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to become productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Cypress Mountain has been partnering with Special Olympics BC since 1990 providing a weekly 'Club Night' on the mountain. SOBC athletes are given special rates and access to designated runs to train and practice on. Each year we see a group of at least 30+ athletes, along with 20 Volunteer trainers partake in this program.
Special Olympics (Nordic Area)
Over 60 athletes and coaches arrive early Sunday mornings through January and February to recreate and train for their competitions in the sports of cross country, skiing and snowshoeing at Cypress Nordic. Participants take to the trails for great fun, fitness and friendship. Special Olympics have been sponsored by Cypress Mountain for over 20 consecutive years. We are happy to support this organization, its coaches and athletes, waving all trail ticket and rental fees for their group sessions. We always look forward to their visits. Nordic Racers Ski Club
We are an organization of cross country skiers of all abilities and levels. We encourage the enjoyment and growth of cross country skiing as a lifelong sport. We provide members with opportunities to achieve their goals as recreational skiers, competitive athletes, race officials, coaches and instructors in a safe, fun and social environment.
Chill Vancouver
Chill Vancouver operates year-round youth development programs through boardsports. They run snowboarding, skateboarding and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) programs in the winter, summer, and fall seasons, reaching 150+ local youth in our communities.
Chill uses Positive Youth Development (PYD) techniques throughout their programming to inspire youth working through adversity, and support them with opportunities to build resiliency through every aspect of their lives. The program utilizes a 6-day curriculum, where a new life skill is introduced to the youth through discussion, hands-on activity, and on-board progression. The themes discussed are: Respect, Patience, Persistence, Responsibility, Courage, and Pride.
Chill partners with Cypress for their six-week snowboard program, which runs two evenings a week from January-March. The entire program, including transportation, equipment, lessons and lift tickets, are provided at no cost to the youth involved. Program participants meet at Thunderbird Community Center in Vancouver, and ride as a group to and from the mountain. The coach bus is used to facilitate the daily discussions and activities!
First Aid Ski Patrol
First Aid Ski Patrol (FASP) is a local volunteer, non-profit organization providing first aid services and safety support to the snow loving public on the local mountains of Vancouver. We are proud to support the Nordic community with our long term involvement at Cypress Cross Country. Our volunteers maintain excellence in first aid care standards and endeavour to be a friendly support for mountain staff and the public.
Snowminds: Instructor Training Program & Work Placement
Snowminds offers the opportunity to become a ski or snowboard instructor for non-Canadians. The company is led by former instructors who know all the steps to becoming an instructor and who have deep passions for instructing. Snowminds takes care of all the practical things so you don't have to do anything other than pack your suitcase and your good spirit. After the successful completion of a 3-week comprehensive training program with experienced coaches culminating in a Level 1 Canadian Instructors' certificate, you will get to work a full Canadian winter season with the Cypress Mountain Snow School.
