HIKE UP, RIDE DOWN

Chairlift downloads are available for hikers in the summer months only. Don't worry about descending the mountain when you're tired after your hike. Just visit the Snack Shack atop the Eagle Chairlift to grab your download ticket. Please note that the last chair down is 6:40 p.m.

Top 6 Hikes

Cypress Mountain offers a range of trails through coastal forest, subalpine meadows, and alpine lakes- all accessible from the resort. Trails vary in distance and difficulty, with options from 6 to 12 km. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times.

  • Hike to top of Eagle Chair

    Eagle Ascend via Black Mountain Trail

    Distance: 2.2 km one way

    Time: 1.5 hours

    Difficulty: Intermediate

    Accessible year-round

    Scenic Ride Available

    This one's for the cardio lovers. This steady climb begins at the bottom of Eagle Express climbs all the way to the top of Eagle Express. Expect steep sections, rocky terrain, stairs, and a rewarding finish overlooking the North Shore Mountains. During summer, the trail is lined with salmonberries, huckleberries, and blueberries (please leave berries for wildlife and enjoy responsibly). Once you've reached the top, reward yourself with a scenic chairlift ride back down.

    Distance: 6.0 km loop

    Time: 2.5 hours

    Difficulty: Intermediate

    Scenic Ride Available

    A versatile loop that passes through old-growth forest and along Cabin Lake- a scenic alpine lake popular for swimming in the summer months. Well-suited for hiking and trail running in summer, and snowshoeing in winter. In the summer guests can purchase a scenic ride lift ticket on the Eagle Express to ride up and down, eliminating the steep hike in and out.

  • Saint Marks summit.

    Saint Marks Summit

    Distance: 10.5 km out-and-back

    Time: 5 hours

    Difficulty: Intermediate

    Best July through November

    One of the most accessible viewpoints along the Howe Sound Crest Trail with that stunning view North Shore locals know so well. The trail gains steady elevation through forest and subalpine terrain before arriving at a wide-open summit with views down Howe Sound and out towards the Gulf Islands. Wildlife sightings are common along the route.

  • Eagleridge Buffs

    Eagleridge Bluffs via Black Mountain Trail

    Distance: 9 km out-and-back

    Time: 4 hours

    Difficulty: Intermediate

    Best May through December

    A steady climb through coastal forest leads to the Eagleridge Bluffs, with views over Eagle Lake and out toward the Strait of Georgia. The trail is well-suited for hiking and nature exploration.

  • Bowen lookout.

    Bowen Lookout

    Distance 4 km loop

    Time: 1.5 hours

    Difficulty: Easy

    Best July through November

    The best effort-to-reward ratio on the North Shore. This trail starts with a pleasant, flat walk along the Yew Lake Loop. The second half of the hike ascends somewhat steeply through a series of switchbacks before reaching the stunning lookout. Suitable for hiking and trail running.

  • Hollyburn Peak

    Distance 7 km loop

    Time: 3.5 hours

    Difficulty: Intermediate

    Accessible year-round

    A manageable loop to the summit of Hollyburn Peak, passing by Hollyburn Lake enroute. From our Nordic Ski Area Parking lot, you can hike up the powerline road to the Baden-Powell trail. Follow the signs up the mountain to the Hollyburn Peak Trail. This trail leads to the top of Hollyburn Mountain and offers spectacular views of the surrounding area.
